The Africa GPS maps are converted to the Garmin .img format. All GPS maps are routable. The maps are stored in a zip file containing the .img file for Garmin devices and the Garmin Mapsource Installer for Windows, the RoadTrip installer for Mac OSX and a zip file with “tiles in the request” especially for Linux users (eg QLandkarte).
The GPS map for Africa are provided in three or four different formats:
osm_routable_mapsource.exe = Installer for Garmin MapSource (Windows).
osm_routable_roadtrip.zip = Installer for Garmin RoadTrip (Mac OSX)
osm_routable_gmapsupp.zip = Combined image for direct manual placement on the GPS device.

Hi Maria. I uploaded the files on my personal MyDrive Account. The following link should work and you can download the OpenStreetMap for Rwanda. I uploaded the version for MapSource and the .exe file for direct placement on your Garmin SD card. As well as the file for the roadtdrip installer for using on Mac.

We just dowload the converted Garmin map and it’s great.
How often will this map be updated ? Most of the time, before travelling in the desert or along the Nile, we do a lot of work to complete the map…
Hi Arnaud, it’s great that you contribute to the OSM project. We try to update the map every couple of months. If you know in advance (some days) before you need an update than email us and we render the new version of the map for you.

Par contre, le lien externe Rép. Dém. Congo pointe vers Rép. Congo. Sur ce site, il n’y même pas de carte de la Rép. Dém. Congo (ancien Zaire). Avant, il y avait une carte qui s’appelait “DR Kongo OSM GPS”, mais elle a disparu.

You should download the “Africa GPS Map – Roadtrip” it also works on basecamp on Mac.
